Future Role of Inverclyde - Scottish Football's National Centre?
Future Role of Inverclyde - Scottish Football's National Centre?
Many famous coaches from Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, Jose Mourinho, and Owen Coyle have gained their UEFA licence qualifications under the Scottish FA. Enjoying a magnificent location on the Ayrshire coast Inverclyde is also home to many other sports performance and development programmes and has been the residential centre for many international squads' preparation for competition.

In recent years the development of national centres for many sports such as Hockey, Badminton and Tennis has reduced the use of Largs as a preparation centre. In addition many new performance centres are associating themselves with University or College campuses to achieve synergy benefits for their learning programmes.

The possibility of a National Football Centre as part of a new performance strategy for Scottish football calls into question the suitability of Inverclyde for such a centre for a major national team sport. Equally the Largs centre is likely to continue to play a major role in Scottish sport for years to come.
